Los Angeles, CA – The Pacifica Foundation is proud to announce that it will assume production of the award-winning public affairs program Making Contact, following the closure of Frequencies of Change Media, the independent nonprofit that has stewarded the program for over three decades.
“The relaunch of Making Contact under the wing of Pacifica is an exciting boost to progressive audio power,” said Norman Solomon, Making Contact co-founder and national director of RootsAction. Making Contact has long served as a vital source of community-driven journalism, amplifying voices too often ignored by mainstream media. This transition ensures the continuation of its mission to produce critical, solution-oriented content grounded in social justice and grassroots engagement.
“The Pacifica Foundation’s values and network make it a natural home for Making Contact,” said Stephanie Wells, executive director of the Pacifica Foundation. “We are honored to carry forward its legacy and look forward to supporting its growth and reach across our national network.”
Listeners will continue to hear new episodes on their favorite stations and podcast platforms. Pacifica’s first Making Contact episode will air on August 5, 2026.
Making Contact co-founder Peggy Law shares, “Making Contact was created and launched by dozens of activists and journalists associated with and inspired by Pacifica’s KPFA. So in a very real sense Making Contact is not finding a new home — it is returning to its roots.”
